May Flowers

IMG_5633While Claremont did not get the proverbial April Showers, we are still enjoying the beautiful May blooms courtesy of the recent winter rains. Back in 2009, the Claremont City Council named the Sticky Monkey Flower (Mimulus aurantiacus) our city flower, as proposed by the Claremont Community Foundation.

The monkey flower belongs to the same family as a childhood favorite of mine – the snapdragon. They range in color from red through orange to yellow (on the ROY side of the ROYGBIV spectrum).
