Yarn Bombing

Two weeks ago the Claremont Courier exposed a small city scandal. The city mistakenly took down an art installation on privately-owned Village trees, and now it’s trying to knit the situation back together.

Two local businesses (Studio C and Phebie’s NeedleArt) had yarn-bombed two trees on Yale in from of the Chamber of Commerce. An employee of the city’s Community Development Department mistakenly took the installation down, damaging the yarn.

A new installation has appeared and will be up until Nov. 5. The City has reimbursed the artists for their materials. I wonder why these can’t stay up a little longer….

In 2014 trees in the Laemmle Plaza had been yarn-bombed.

Nearly two years ago in Munich, I saw a whole park full of yarn-bombed trees.
