From Mason Hall on the Pomona College Campus to Sumner Hall, to Sarah Bixby Smith’s house on one of the campuses to the Claremont Inn (no longer in existence), the University Club now meets at the Hughes Center on Tuesdays for lunch, a talk, and club business.
Lunch is catered by the Euro Cafe and begins serving at 11:30.
Piano music adds to the noontime ambiance.
After eating, club business includes a few jokes, some announcements, and something called Fellowship which reads like a small-town newspaper from a bygone era noting events in members’ lives such as trips taken, visitors received, and grandchildren born.
The featured speaker then has about 30-40 minutes to enlighten the crowd on their subject of expertise, take questions and wind things up before 1:30.
