Penny Wars

IMG_2493Make a fundraiser into a game. Make it fun. Enter Penny Wars. The rules are simple. Students collect pennies for their classroom, but they can sabotage another classroom’s count by putting nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars in their jars. For each silver coin in the jar the class must subtract that amount from their total. For a nickel, take away five pennies, a dime, ten, and so on. The class with the most pennies wins and gets a pizza party.

Every single cent goes to support the PFA, and economic lessons enrich student minds. The PFA becomes experts at coin counting and rolling….

It turns out that this thermometer was not tall enough, as the final count came in over $2,000.
