I can’t resist a book sale, especially a used book sale, and especially when it profits a good cause. The Friends of the Claremont Library holds several book sales throughout the year, in addition to having carts of books for sale whenever the library is open. Only once a year for one day do the Friends have their Antiquarian Book Sale.
The NY Times recently ran an article about the effect of having actual hard copies of books in one’s home rather than just digital content, and how that relates to academic success. This led to a discussion in my house about the joys of browsing a library shelf to discover a book you didn’t even know you wanted to read. Then I remembered book titles from my parents’ personal library that I remember reading and wondering about as a child.
But I digress. Enjoy these photos of some antiquarian books from last Saturday’s sale. And here is what I enjoyed at this special sale in 2013.
