Millard Sheets: Hills and Horses

IMG_0699You might not find the art gallery tucked into one room in the administration building at Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Garden unless you look for it. You will not find any information about the exhibits in this gallery on the RSABG website. So I’ll point you to the current exhibit which runs through February 28, 2016.

In conjunction with the Claremont Museum of Art: A Museum without Walls, visitors can enjoy Millard Sheets: Hills and Horses. Sheets, a Pomona native and art faculty member of Scripps College, “depicted a familiar way of life in the years that he lived in Padua Hills in the 1940s-60s and beyond.”

Even if you’ve never heard of Sheets, if you’ve driven past the bank on the northeast corner of Indian Hill and Foothill, you’ve seen one of his many murals which he created for various Home Savings Banks throughout the region.

  1. Glad to hear about the Millard Sheets Exhibit at The Botanic Gardens. AND, I’m even happier recently to have learned that the Claremont Museum of Art will be using the Metrolink Depot Station as the location for their art displays.
